Returns the current date as a DATE value.
TODAY( [ * ] )
TODAY(*) and TODAY() are semantically equivalent. TODAY is equivalent to the CURRENT DATE special value.
Each instance of the TODAY function in a request is evaluated at most once. Multiple instances of TODAY in the same request
may or may not share the identical DATE value.
The following statements return the current day according to the system clock.
SELECT TODAY( * );
SELECT CURRENT DATE;
