Description

Imports data into a database table from an external file, the keyboard, or an ODBC data source.

Syntax

Syntax 1:

input into[ owner.]table_name input-options
     input_options :
     [ ( column_name, ... ) ]
     [ by { order | name ]
     [ byte order mark { on| off } ]
     [ column widths ( integer, ...) ]
     [ delimited by string ]
     [ encoding encoding ]
     [ escape character character ]
     [ escapes { on | off }
     [ formate input_format ]
     [ from filename | prompt ]
     [ nostrip ]
     [ skip integer ]
input_format :text 
     | fixed ]
encoding : identifier | string

Syntax 2:

input using connection_string
     from source_table_name 
     into destination_table_name
     [ create table { on | off } ]
connection_string :  
     { drive =odbc_driver_name 
     | dsn =odbc_data_source } [ ; { connection_parameter = value } ]
