Starting a database

Start a database.

Prerequisites

You must have the StartStopDatabase privilege.

To start a mirror database or read-only scale-out database copy, the primary database/read-write database must be running.

 Task
  1. In the Cloud Console, navigate to the Overview panel of the tenant database.

  2. Choose one of the following options:

    Option Action
Start a primary or mirror database in a mirroring system

    Click Start this database.

Starting the primary database also starts the mirror database, and any scale-out database copies.

Start a database that is the read-write copy in a read-only scale-out system

    Click Start this database.

The read-write database and all its scale-out database copies are started.

    Start a read-only scale-out database copy
    1. Click Mirror & Scale-out.

    2. Select the relevant scale-out database copy and click Start.

Start a database that is not part of a mirroring or read-only scale-out system

    Click Start this database.

Performing this action on a database that is configured to autostart and autostop prevents the database from stopping automatically and reduces the number of databases that can run on a cloud server.

Start a database that is configured to autostart Connect to the database.

Results
