Downloading and redownloading cloud software support packages

Download or redownload cloud software to obtain updated software; to get software for a different operating system; or to get software for a different cloud server version.

There are no prerequisites for this task.

Context and remarks

By default, when cloud software is downloaded it is stored on the cloud partner that is currently acting as the primary. To improve load balancing in the cloud, choose to create multiple copies of the software on different hosts in the cloud. Downloading the software to multiple hosts allows multiple hosts to participate in installing the software on all hosts in the cloud and helps reduce the length of time required to apply the infrastructure upgrade to the cloud.

When cloud software is redownloaded, all copies of the software version in the cloud are replaced. Redownloading the cloud software is useful when the original file is deleted from a host.

  • On the Cloud Software panel, choose one of the following options:

    Options Action
Download a new version of the software.
    1. Click Download.

    2. Select a version of the cloud server software from the list.

    3. Click Release Notes and verify that the support package contains fixes that you need.

    4. Click Next.

    5. When prompted to specify the hosts that you want to download the software to, choose either The Cloud primary and named hosts or The Cloud primary and tagged hosts.

    6. Click Finish.

    1. In the Downloaded Cloud Software table, select a previously downloaded version of the cloud software.

    2. Click Other actions » Redownload, and follow the instructions.

The cloud software is downloaded and copied to the specified host or hosts.

It is now possible to add a host to the cloud that uses this cloud software, or to install the software on hosts in your cloud.
