Tasks and events

A task is an action that you perform on a cloud object or a group of cloud objects, such as starting a database, creating a backup, or altering a user.

You can schedule and run tasks, as well as view their status, in either the Cloud Console or the Cloud Command utility (dbcloudcmd).

All tasks are system-defined. You cannot create tasks; however, you can create, run, and schedule meta-tasks using the ExecuteTaskBatch task. In addition, you can query a database or make schema changes to a database using the ExecuteTenantBatch task.

In the Cloud Console, the Events panel shows active and completed tasks in the cloud. The Scheduled Tasks panel shows the tasks that are scheduled to run on the cloud.
