Users and privileges

Cloud users are separate from the users defined in tenant databases.

The following types of users are supported in the cloud:

  • Cloud user   Any user that can connect to the cloud is a cloud user.

  • Cloud user with Administrator privilege   A user with Administrator privilege is similar to the database administrator (DBA) user of a tenant database. The Administrator privilege allows users to run any task in the cloud.

Each cloud has at least one cloud user with Administrator privilege. By default, the user specified when the cloud is created has the Administrator privilege.

  • Tenant database user   Any user of a database in the cloud. For example, the user the client application uses to connect to the database.

  • DBCloud user   This user is created when the cloud is created, and is for internal use only. You cannot alter or delete this user.
