SAP SQL Anywhere, on-demand edition 1.0 » SAP SQL Anywhere, on-demand edition » Tenant databases » How can I add a database that has external environments?

Remote data access

Remote data access must be manually enabled for a tenant database.

For remote data access support within the cloud:

  1. Do not use JDBC-based remote data access support. This feature is deprecated.

  2. Do not use the DSN connection parameter for ODBC-based remote servers because this connection parameter requires you to create ODBC data sources for each host.

  3. Use cloud tags and rules to:

    • Ensure that tenant databases that require third-party ODBC drivers reside on hosts that have these drivers available.

    • Ensure that tenant databases enabled for remote data access do not move between hosts running on different platforms. Moving these tenant databases requires changing the remote server definition.

To alter the remote server definition, use the USING clause of the ALTER SERVER statement.
