Several new features and behavior changes are introduced in SQL Anywhere, on-demand edition version 1.0 SP 6.
The cloud now supports SQL Anywhere version 17 software for cloud servers and tenant databases in addition to versions 12 and 16.
To create version 17 cloud servers, your must upgrade your cloud infrastructure to SP6.
The Cloud Console has been updated to make it easier to differentiate between cloud server (SQL Anywhere server) and cloud infrastructure software. See Software packages and upgrades.
In addition, the cloud_version parameter for the following tasks now accepts the cloud infrastructure software number or the cloud server software number:
Previously, tenant databases were automatically backed up when they were upgraded. Now, the default behavior when upgrading a database by using the Cloud Console is to not back up the database. However, the default behavior when upgrading a database by using the UpgradeDatabase task is unchanged--the database is backed up.
When upgrading a version 12 database, ensure that it is backed up during the upgrade process.
If your application is a SQL Anywhere version 17 application that uses TLS encryption to connect to the cloud, then specify skip_certificate_name_check=yes as part of your TLS options in the application connection string. This requirement also applies to cloud utilities including dbcloudadd, dbcloudcmd, and dbcloudextract.
