Each backup has an expiry date that is specified either at the time of creation, or by the maintenance plan that scheduled the backup.
By default, the expiry date is one week after the backup was created. However, you can change the expiry date by using the AlterBackupCopy task. The number of backups kept for a specific tenant database is also determined by the maintenance plan assigned to the tenant database. The default number of backups kept for the tenant database is three. Every time the maintenance plan is run, it deletes all expired backups except the three most recent backups.
To configure a host to allow the storage of backups, set the Allows backups property on the host's Overview panel, or by using the AlterHost task.
Create a copy of a backup and store it on another host either inside or outside of the cloud. Creating a backup copy ensures the availability of a valid tenant database backup in case the original backup gets deleted or corrupted.
