A tag is a non-hierarchical term or keyword that is applied to a host, cloud server, and/or tenant database.
A tag allows groups of objects to be classified in ways that you find helpful. Tags provide a more intuitive and flexible way of grouping cloud objects that you want to perform tasks on.
A host, cloud server, and/or tenant database can have numerous tags applied to it at any time. Because tags are not inherited, a tag applied to a host is not automatically applied to cloud servers running on that host. Similarly, deleting a tag from a host does not delete the same tag from cloud servers running on that host.
You can apply a geographical tag to a group of hosts, cloud servers, and tenant databases to schedule a task that applies only to tenant databases in a specific region. Or you can create a company tag for a group of databases to create a rule that restricts the hosts where the databases can run.
