User ID and password restrictions

There are some user ID and password restrictions to be aware of.

  • User IDs cannot
    • begin or end with white space

    • begin with DBCloud

    • be the following reserved user names: dbo, diagnostics, EXTENV_MAIN, EXTENV_WORKER, PUBLIC, rs_systabgroup, SA_DEBUG, SATechSupport, SYS, or SYS_SPATIAL_ADMIN_ROLE

    • be longer than 128 bytes in length

    • contain non-7 bit ASCII characters

    • contain punctuation marks, except for the following characters:

      space dash (-)
      pound sign (#) period (.)
      percent sign (%) at sign (@)
      left parenthesis (() underscore (_)
      right parenthesis ())  
  • Passwords are case-sensitive and they cannot
    • begin with white space, single quotes, or double quotes

    • end with white space

    • be longer than 255 bytes in length

    • contain non-7 bit ASCII characters

    • contain punctuation marks, except for the following characters:

      space left parenthesis (() left angle bracket (<) caret (^)
      exclamation mark (!) right parenthesis ()) equal sign (=) underscore (_)
      double quotes (") asterisk (*) right angle bracket (>) back quote (`)
      pound sign (#) plus sign (+) question mark (?) left curly bracket ({)
      dollar sign ($) dash (-) at sign (@) vertical bar (|)
      percent sign (%) period (.) left square bracket ([) right curly bracket (})
      ampersand (&) forward slash (/) backslash(\) tilde (~)
      single quote (') colon (:) right square bracket (]) comma (,)

      When cloud user passwords are created or changed, they are converted to UTF-8 before being hashed and stored.
