How to connect to a tenant database using an older client library

To connect to a tenant database, use a 16.0 client library.

SQL Anywhere versions 10.0.0 to 12.0.0 client libraries

Although it is not recommended, it is possible to connect to a tenant database using client libraries from versions 10.0.0 to 12.0.0. However, these older client libraries do not support connection redirection within the cloud. As a result, you must connect directly to the server where the tenant database runs. To connect with an older client library you must specify the CommLinks (LINKS) and ServerName (Server) connection parameters.

To connect to a tenant database using a client library from versions 10.0.0 to 12.0.0, use a connection string similar to the following:

LINKS=TCPIP(HOST=server-host:server-port);Server=cloud-server-name;
DBN=database-name;UID=user-ID;PWD=password
Connection parameter Description
CommLinks (LINKS)

(Required) Allowed value:

  • TCPIP (TCP)

    Connect to the specified address using the TCP/IP communication protocol.

ServerName (Server)

(Required) The name of the cloud server that the tenant database is running on.

DatabaseName (DBN) (Required) The name of the tenant database being connected to.
Userid (UID) (Required) The user ID of the tenant database being connected to.
Password (PWD) (Required) The password for the tenant database being connected to.
