Create validated full and incremental backups of your database between scheduled backups.
You must have the BackupDatabase privilege.
The host you are creating the backup on must have the Allows backups property enabled or the backup fails.
If backup validation is required, then there must be a cloud server capable of running the database on the specified host. If no validation is requested, no running cloud server is required.
You can schedule regular and recurring backups by using maintenance plans.
Specify one of the following validation types:
|Full||Performs a full validation. This validation type is the default in the Cloud Console.|
|Database||Validates that all pages in the database belong to the correct object, performs a checksum validation, and validates the correctness of indexes.|
|Checksum||Performs a checksum validation.|
|Express||Performs an express validation.|
|None||Does not perform a validation.|
Specify one of the following backup types:
A full backup is a backup of the database files, including dbspaces, and the transaction log. The transaction log file is renamed and truncated so that future incremental backups only contain changes made since this backup.
If this is the first time that the database is being backed up, then choose Full.
|Incremental||An incremental backup only backs up the transaction log. The transaction log file is renamed and truncated so that the next incremental backup only contains changes made since this backup. The backup is stored on the same host as the most recent full backup of the database.|
Specify a host, a list of hosts, or a search string that returns one or more hosts. If you specify more than one host, then the cloud chooses one of the specified hosts to store the backup on.
Store your full backups on a host that is not running a copy of the database.
The host must have the Allows backups property enabled or the backup fails.
Specify an expiration date for the backup, use the default expiration date (the expiration date used by the database's maintenance plan), or use no expiration date.
The database is backed up to the specified host and the backup is validated.
The Backups panel shows the status of the backup process.
