SAP SQL Anywhere, on-demand edition 1.0 SP 6 » Task syntax

DeleteBackupCopy task

Deletes one or more copies of a backup from the cloud.

Syntax 1 (SQL)
CALL DBCloud.DeleteBackupCopy ( backupcopy_list=backupcopy_list [, optional-parameters ] )
Syntax 2 (Cloud Command utility)
dbcloudcmd run DeleteBackupCopy backupcopy_list [ optional-parameters ]
  • backupcopy_list

A list of backup copies to delete. Accepts a search query that identifies backup copies. The search query can be a list of backup copy names or IDs separated by semicolons (;), or a full search. (Required)

  • cascade

Set to 1 to delete the backup copy and any subsequent incremental backup copies on the same machine. The default is 0.

Required privileges

This task deletes the specified backup copies from the host that they are stored on. If the last copy of an incremental backup is deleted, the corresponding full backup is marked as final, so that no further incremental backups can be created for that database. The next backup run on the database must be a full backup. When the last copy of a backup is deleted, the backup itself is also deleted.

The host that the backup copy is deleted from must have a cloud server running on it.

If the cascade parameter is set to 1, then the backup copy and its subsequent incremental backup copies (on the same host) are deleted. If cascade is set to 0, then an error occurs if the specified backup copy is a full backup that has incremental backups, or an incremental backup that has subsequent incremental backups.

Run the following task to delete the backup copy with the ID BC-q5v5:

dbcloudcmd run DeleteBackupCopy backupcopy_list=BC-q5v5

Run the following task to delete the backup copy with the ID BC-g5a5 and all its subsequent incremental backups (until the next full backup):

dbcloudcmd run DeleteBackupCopy backupcopy_list=BC-g5a5 cascade=1
