SAP SQL Anywhere, on-demand edition 1.0 SP 6 » Task syntax

DeleteBackup task

Deletes all copies of one or more backups from the cloud.

Syntax 1 (SQL)
CALL DBCloud.DeleteBackup ( backup_list=backup_list [, optional-parameters ] )
Syntax 2 (Cloud Command utility)
dbcloudcmd run DeleteBackup backup_list [ optional-parameters ]
Parameters
  • backup_list

A list of backups to delete. Accepts a search query that identifies backups. The search query can be a list of backup names or IDs separated by semicolons (;), or a full search. (Required)

  • cascade

Set to 1 to delete the backup and any subsequent incremental backups. The default is 0.

Required privileges

BackupDatabase

Remarks

This task deletes all copies of the specified backup(s). If an incremental backup is deleted, the corresponding full backup is marked as final, so that no further incremental backups can be created on that database. The next backup run on the database must be a full backup.

  • backup

The backup parameter accepts a backup ID. To view a list of all backup IDs in the cloud, run the following:

    dbcloudcmd describe type:backup
  • cascade

If this parameter is set to 1, then the backup and its subsequent incremental backups are deleted. If cascade is set to 0, then an error occurs if the specified backup is a full backup that has incremental backups, or an incremental backup that has subsequent incremental backups.

Example

Run the following task to delete all copies of the backup with the ID BP-q5v5:

dbcloudcmd run DeleteBackup backup_list=BP-q5v5

Run the following task to delete the backup with the ID BP-g5a5 and all its subsequent incremental backups (until the next full backup):

dbcloudcmd run DeleteBackup backup_list=BP-g5a5 cascade=1
