SAP SQL Anywhere, on-demand edition 1.0 SP 6 » Task syntax

FailoverToCloudPartner task

Forces the cloud partners to switch roles.

Syntax 1 (SQL)
CALL DBCloud.FailoverToCloudPartner ( )
Syntax 2 (Cloud Command utility)
dbcloudcmd run FailoverToCloudPartner
Required privileges

AlterCloud

Remarks

Initiating failover forces the cloud partners to change their roles without stopping the cloud servers. During the failover, the partner that has the primary role takes on the mirror role, and the partner that has the mirror role takes on the primary role.

Running the FailoverToCloudPartner task can cancel other tasks that are currently running.

During the role switch, some of the cloud servers may for a brief period have their current status change from connected to disconnected, and then back to connected. This temporary change in a cloud server's current status results in events that you can review in the Events panel of the Cloud Console. This change in the cloud server's current status does not affect the databases that are running on the cloud server. Client connections to these databases are also not affected.

Do not run this task within an ExecuteTaskBatch task.

Example

The following command causes the cloud partners to switch primary and mirror roles:

dbcloudcmd run FailoverToCloudPartner
