Setting a default maintenance plan

Set a maintenance plan to be the default maintenance plan for the cloud.

You must have the BackupDatabase privilege.

A maintenance plan must exist.

The default maintenance plan applies to all future tenant databases added to the cloud.

When a cloud is created, its default maintenance plan is the DailyBackup plan, which runs full backups every Saturday at 11:00 P.M. (local time), and incremental backups all other days at the same time. The DailyBackup plan is a system-defined maintenance plan that cannot be altered or deleted. However, you can set a user-defined maintenance plan to act as the default maintenance plan for the cloud.

If a maintenance plan is deleted, then any databases using that maintenance plan automatically begin using the current default maintenance plan.

  1. In the Cloud Console, navigate to the Maintenance Plans panel and select the relevant maintenance plan.
  2. Click Make default.

The specified maintenance plan becomes the default maintenance plan for all future tenant databases added to the cloud.

Next Steps

The new maintenance plan does not affect databases that are currently running in the cloud. To have a database that is currently running the cloud use the default maintenance plan, apply the default plan directly to the database.
