Upgrade your cloud infrastructure with a newer version of the cloud software. On every host, the cloud infrastructure software is upgraded and the included version of the cloud server software is installed.
You must have the InstallUpdateSoftware and AlterCloud privileges.
The cloud infrastructure software package that you want to use must be added to the cloud.
To upgrade your cloud from SP5 to SP6, your cloud servers must be version 18.104.22.16856 or higher, or version 22.214.171.1241 or higher.
The cloud partners and cloud arbiter must be running, and they must continue to run throughout the upgrade process.
All hosts must be running, and they must continue to run throughout the upgrade process.
The cloud is unavailable for a short period of time during the upgrade, so cloud tasks cannot run. All tenant databases continue to run and are available.
To ensure the successful upgrade of your cloud infrastructure:
Do not stop cloud servers or other processes during the upgrade.
Ensure that the overall load on the cloud, especially on the cloud partners, is low.
Depending on the size of your cloud, upgrading it can be a lengthy process. Only upgrade the cloud infrastructure when it is necessary.
Reduce the length of time required to apply the upgrade by creating copies of the software package on multiple hosts in the cloud. Run the CopyCloudSoftware task to create copies of the software.
The cloud infrastructure is upgraded, and a version of the cloud server software is installed on each host. By default, newly created servers run this version of the cloud server software. Existing cloud servers are not changed (upgraded) to use this version. To upgrade the cloud servers, change their software version. In a production environment, upgrade your cloud servers, including the cloud partners and cloud arbiter, when the cloud server software contains a fix to a problem.
(Optional) Delete any copies of the cloud infrastructure software package that you copied to the non-partner hosts.
