Installing cloud server software

Install cloud server software on your hosts, so that you can run cloud servers with this software version.


You must have the InstallUpdateSoftware and AlterCloud privileges.

The cloud server software must be added to the cloud.


A host can support multiple versions of cloud server and database software. For example, suppose that all of your cloud servers are version 17 because most of your tenant databases are also version 17. However, you have one version 12 tenant database that must run on a version 12 cloud server. In this case, install a version 12 cloud server software package and use it to create a version 12 cloud server for this tenant database.

Reduce the length of time required to install the cloud server software by running the CopyCloudSoftware task to create copies of the cloud server software on multiple hosts.


  1. On the Cloud Software panel, click the cloud server software that you want to install, and then click Install.
  2. Specify the hosts that you want to install the software on, and then click Finish.


The cloud server software is installed on the host, and is available for use. Existing cloud servers are not changed.

Next Steps

  • Create a cloud server using the newly installed software. By default, newly created servers run the most recently installed cloud server software.

  • Change the software version of the existing cloud servers to use the newly installed software.
