During the upgrade cloud infrastructure process, the cloud prepares and applies the upgrade first to one cloud partner and then to the other cloud partner and arbiter hosts, and finally to all other running hosts in the cloud.
Stage 1 of the upgrade involves installing the cloud infrastructure software on all hosts that require updated software.
Stage 2 of the upgrade involves putting the cloud into read-only mode so that no other tasks or updates can be run. The cloud may be unavailable during the upgrade. The length of time that the Cloud Console is unavailable varies depending on the cloud server to which you are connected. However, the cloud's primary server is available for the majority of the upgrade process. Depending on the size of the cloud, the upgrading process could be lengthy. The cloud servers are not stopped and tenant databases are still fully accessible and can be modified during the upgrade process.
Upon completing the cloud upgrade:
All running hosts in the cloud have been upgraded to the specified version of the cloud software. Each host's cloud agent and utilities have been upgraded, as well as the Cloud Console and any cloud features that are part of the cloud infrastructure.
Active events of secondary importance, such as HostDiskspaceLow, UpdateAvailable, UnsubmittedErrorReports, and so on, are de-activated during the infrastructure upgrade process. Once the upgrade completes, these events are recreated as soon as the cloud checks for the relevant event conditions.
As part of the upgrade, cloud server software is installed on each host. By default, newly created servers run this version of the cloud server software. However, cloud servers are not upgraded (changed).
