UltraLite conn_count property Next Page

UltraLite encryption property

Returns the type of encryption used for database or table encryption.

Values returned

One of: None, Simple, AES, or AES_FIPS.

The encryption used by the database is determined by whether or not you have configured FIPS encryption (AES or AES_FIPS) and the DBKEY connection parameter, or obfuscation (simple encryption).

The only time this property can change is when the value is originally None (that is, neither fips nor obfuscation is used). If you then change the encryption key by specifying a new encryption key on the Connection object by calling the correct function or method for your API. In this case, the value would change its value to AES because the FIPS parameter cannot be set after the database has been created.

UltraLite employs different methods that allow you to check the value property:

In Sybase Central    Right click the database you have connected to and choose Properties. The Database Properties dialog box appears, displaying the configured values for all existing database properties. The encryption type is listed near the bottom of the General tab.

In C/C++    Call GetDatabaseProperty( ul_database_property_id encryption ).
