MONTH function [Date and time]

Returns a month of the given date.

Syntax 
MONTH( date-expression )
Parameters

  • date-expression   A datetime value.

Returns

SMALLINT

Remarks

The value returned is a number from number from 1 to 12 corresponding to the datetime month.

  • SQL/2003   Vendor extension.

Example

The following statement returns the value 7.

SELECT MONTH( '1998-07-13' );
