This environment variable should be set for several reasons. For example, samples require this environment variable to locate
SQL Anywhere applications.
On Windows, the installer creates the SQLANY16 environment variable (it is stored in the Windows Registry).
On Unix, the sa_config.sh and sa_config.csh files, created by the installer, are scripts that create or modify this and other environment variables.
