The fast launcher option reduces the startup time for the Sybase Central and Interactive SQL graphical administration tools. When fast launching is enabled, the tool stays in memory for a configurable length of time after you close it. If you restart the tool within this time, it starts quickly. If you do not restart the tool within this time, the process terminates and releases its resources to the operating system. By default, this inactivity timer is set to 30 minutes.

When the fast launcher option is enabled, the tool's icon appears in the system tray. You can restart or shut down the tool by right-clicking the system tray icon. Using the system tray icon to shut down the tool terminates the fast launcher process and releases its resources to the operating system.
