Options window

The Options window for Sybase Central lets you configure basic appearance options.

The General tab of the Options window has the following components:

Tab placement Lets you configure the placement of the tabs in the right pane of Sybase Central. For some plug-ins, there is only one tab. For other plug-ins, there are multiple tabs. You can select one of the following options for tab placement: Top, Bottom, Left, or Right. By default, tabs appear at the top of the right pane.
Fast Launcher When the fast launcher is turned on and you close Sybase Central, the program's process (scjview.exe) stays in memory for a configurable length of time. If you do not restart the Sybase Central within this time, the process ends and releases its resources to the operating system. The fast launcher is only available on Windows.

Note

The fast launcher process requires a significant amount of memory, and the impact on application startup time depends on your system configuration.
- Enable fast launcher Select this option to turn on the fast launcher. The fast launcher is turned on by default. To turn the fast launcher off, clear this option.
- Configure Opens the Sybase Central Fast Launcher Configuration window where you can specify the TCP/IP port used by the fast launcher and set the inactivity timer.
- Show tips on startup Shows the Tip of the Day window when you start Sybase Central.
- Show welcome window on startup Shows the Welcome window when you start Sybase Central.
Use Defaults Resets all settings on this tab to their default values.
