A directory access server is a remote server that gives you access to the local file structure of the computer running the database server. You use proxy tables to access any subdirectories on the computer.
This tab has the following components:
Type Shows the type of object.
Directory information Shows information about the root directory.
Root directory Shows the path for the root directory of this directory access server. When you create proxy tables for this directory access server, they are relative to this root directory.
Subdirectories Shows the number of levels of subdirectories that are accessible to this directory access server. This value must be between 0 and 10. If the value is 0, then only the files in the root directory are accessible via the directory access server. You can create proxy tables to any of the directories or subdirectories available via the directory access server.
Directory creation Shows whether directories can be created using the directory access server.
Read only Shows whether the root directory is read only.
File name delimiter Shows what type of file name delimiter has been selected for this directory access server.
