Administration tool deployment on Windows

This section explains how to install Interactive SQL (dbisql), Sybase Central (including the SQL Anywhere, MobiLink, and UltraLite plug-ins), and the SQL Anywhere Console utility (dbconsole) on a Windows computer without using the Deployment Wizard. It is intended for those who want to create an installer for these administration tools.

This information applies to all Windows platforms except Windows Mobile. The instructions given here are specific to version 16.0 and cannot be applied to earlier or later versions of the software.

Before you begin

Before reading this section, you should have an understanding of the Windows Registry, including the REGEDIT application. The names of the registry values are case sensitive.

Caution

Modifying the Windows Registry is dangerous and you do so at your own risk. It is recommended that you back up your system before modifying the registry.

The following steps are required to deploy the administration tools:

Decide what you want to deploy.
Copy the required files.
Register the administration tools with Windows.
Update the system path.
Register the plug-ins with Sybase Central.
Register the SQL Anywhere ODBC driver with Windows.
Register the online help files with Windows.
